Fabulously Fun Themed Hen Weekends

The Hen Party - no longer a night spent sipping a G and T and dancing with your friends in the pub around the corner. I have had the privilege of enjoying a number of fantastic hen do's in the last couple of years, one of which was my own!
These days, the 'bride to be' requires you to block out an entire weekend, or more, to celebrate her impending pre-nuptials. The local boozer has been replaced by boutique hotels, spas, sophisticated cocktail bars, gourmet restaurants, plus master classes in an array of hilariously fun activities and, of course, nightclubs. All so you can still dance your single-self into the early hours of the morning.

Although they still make an appearance at some point, usually at the airport, L-plates, a flashing veil and the customary ‘bride to be’ sash no longer suffice for an entire weekend. The bridesmaids have stepped it up a gear in the outfit department, usually using them to create a fun theme for the weekend. My current favourite theme for a hen weekend in London is burlesque. Take a peek at this line up of outfit and hosiery inspiration for you and your hens...

Here are some other recent themed hen weekends.

Karen's Cougars let loose in Reykjavik...
 The hens themed outfits...

At the airport at 6am the animal print theme emerged...hehe this still makes me chuckle :)

After relaxing in the natural geothermal Blue Lagoon Spa, Karen spent a crazy night on the tiles in Reykjavik, decked out in animal fur and fishnet tights with her cougars in tow. Us Cougers wore our favourite LBD's, opaque tights and cute leopard print ears!

Poncho's and Tequila at the ready chica's...

My Mexican themed hen drinking margarita's in Chico Bandito's!

Bollywood Nights...

My Bollywood themed weekend in Edinburgh was expertly organised by my lovely bridesmaids in collaboration with Bespoke Weekends. It was a whirlwind of scantily clad butlers, cocktail making, lively clubs, a Bollywood dance class and a luxury apartment to rest our weary heads.

Magical Morocco...

Amy's Moroccan themed hen was set against a backdrop of mosques and the Atlas mountains in mystical Marrakech. Staying in our very own traditional Riad. Pool parties, fruity shisha, hamman spa treatments, belly dancers, spice shopping amongst the snake charmers and clubbing with the locals in the hip Le' Comptoir ensued!

All of the hen weekends were special and unique due to thier original themes. They were brilliant fun thanks to the amazing organisation skills of the lovely bridesmaids... the memories made will be treasured forever.

I'm itching to plan/attend another one so for all you soon to be brides, here is my idea of the perfect hen weekend in London town...
fishnets
With glamorous burlesque clubs such as Madame JoJo’s, the WamBam Club and the notoriously wild The Box currently dazzling London. A night full of decadent cocktails, laughter and fabulous moulin rouge style entertainment is beckoning.
If it’s a weekend affair, my dream stay would be one of the beautifuly quirky apartments that Onefinestay have to offer.
One Fine Stay is the un-hotel where you get to live like a local in owner's luxurious & quirky apartments whilst they're out of town! Complete with 24/7 concierge on the other end of the
iphone that they provide you with. Crisp white sheets, luxury mini smellys, they even fill your fridge with whatever takes your fancy using an on-line shopping list! Perfect for a hen party!

Continuing the theme the following day book up a burlesque master class at The Cheek of It Burlesque School - They offer a two hour saucy workshop on how to shimmy, shake and pose like a pin up, guaranteed a laugh a minute!
On my hen I found a dance class to be the perfect hangover cure, we laughed until we cried and it was a great opportunity for all of my different groups of friends to really get to know one another. The weekend wouldn't be complete without some fabulously glamorous burlesque inspired outfits. Feathers, glitter and lot's of sexy back seam tights, fishnets and pantyhose fit the theme perfectly.
After your dance class, refuel with delicious tapas, pink bubbles and gossip at the chic Dehesa tapas bar. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back, perfect for sharing your snaps and stories from the weekend...oh and the flower courgettes are to die for!!

Hopefully there's some hen weekend themed inspiration for a everyone here... have a happy hen and a beautiful wedding day :)

As you have said, luxury staying are jus fun-tastic! The price is a little spicy sometimes, but hey, it is totally worth it. You feel like a queen there. I never tried OneFineStay, but I did travel once to London and stay in an elegant flat that I rented at http://www.magicrentals.co.uk/ and yeah, worth every penny. Good luck and party wild!
